BIRCHES ON THE BEACH
Getting up early give you the opportunity to be at the right spot at the right time. I'll be the first to admit I hate getting up early, mostly because I end up working late and never manage to get to bed until about midnight, that is if I'm lucky. Most of the time it gets a "bit" passed midnight.
I have found out that if I want to better my photography a great start is to be at the right spot at the right time. To achieve this I just have to get out with my camera before the sun, and that mean out around 0300 in the summer time. As the result of this I have ended up with a lot of sleepless nights the last three months.
Even if I'm up and out before the sun it doesn't always end up with a good image, I missed the best spots most of the time, so on some of my early mornings I have ended up just scouting and making a few notes about possible location and what kind of conditions I can achieve on them. This scouting and notes may be the reason why I have got my misty images, mainly because I have gained a better understanding about my local area and what location works under different weather conditions.
I don't think the composition for this image would work if I didn't have that mist over the water. I think it's the mist that does the image here. It give the image the much needed separation between the foreground and the background, but reveal just enough of the mid ground to make that more interesting.
