AN UNEXPECTED VISITOR

UNEXPECTED VISITOR
Sometimes when we're searching for compositions, destiny has a way of throwing surprises at us. Make the best you can out of that moment, adapt to the situation.

I was walking around our garden a few days back, looking at the flowers that were starting to emerge. A bit early for the big invasion, but some few "scouts" have been popping up around the garden, giving me some decent compositions.

While I was framing up a small cluster of some beautiful blue flowers, my work got interrupted by our neighbour's cat. Normally it runs like hell if it sees either me or my fiancée, but strangely, this time it decided to stay.

Not sure if it was deliberately, or by chance, but it sat down so perfectly I couldn't believe my eyes. The light on its head was just amazing, i just had to try to capture the moment, even though photographing animals has never been in my mind.

I managed to make 3 images before it was gone, this one I decided to share, maybe a bit strange, as I usually don't find photographing animals interesting. The light in the image though, so perfectly placed, the look in its eyes, I just can't discard it.

It's more like a reminder to embrace destiny, adapt to the situation, and make the best of the composition you see in front of your camera. For me, it wasn't the cat that triggered my reaction, it was the light on its head, and the eyes.

The only thing I was sure of in those few seconds I had was to be sure the eyes were in focus, no matter how amazing that light was, if the eyes were out of focus, the awareness in the image would be gone. Because of that light, and the look in the cats eyes, i just had to share.

Eventually, I did get a few nice flower compositions too, but those are for some future posts. This image is way off from my usual content, but as light is something I'm looking for in my compositions, I guess this one has its place among the other.
