THE TEMPTATION

One of my main passions regarding photography has been, and always will be light. It's the most important ingredient in my compositions; it's the foundation I try to build my composition on.

When I'm out walking the local forest and woodland I always search for the light. It comes in many different forms and shades, and always becomes the basis of my composition.
Of course, my images contain more than just light, but without light the composition becomes flat and uninteresting. I need to feel a connection to something ethereal, something elusive. Something present, but still not touchable.

It's a process, a workflow, a sense of connection to the forest, the trees, and the surroundings that slowly have materialized over time. Now it's become natural for me, it's easier to spot promising compositions, but I have to work just as hard as before to frame them up.

This image would never exist if it wasn't for that light. The light gives the image that ethereal feeling, it invites you into the frame, asking you if you want to see what's on the other side.

I've used the trees to frame up the light, and at the same time made some boundaries so the viewer can't see behind. The imagination will try to compensate for what you can't see, fill in the blanks, and at the same time, searching for clues to solve the mystery.

The feeling of depth Is achieved by adjusting the contrast, the light, and the shadows. By reducing the contrast in the background, and raising the light a bit, I get that airy look, and it also empfesize the tiny bit of mist in the air.

I hope you like the image and got a few tips from my writing. Don't hesitate to ask if You have any questions.
