CHANGING PERSPECTIVE HAVE A HUGE IMPACT
As a forest and woodland photographer my usual perspective doesn't favour these small and detailed flowers. I do notice them, but it's easier to look for compositions in my natural height.
I'm not as bendable as I used to be, so in most situations it's more a choice of comfort, rather than a choice of composition. That said, deciding to bend down it's always my last option if nothing else works.
Getting down and dirty is of course something we usually hesitate to do, but these last weeks have made me reconsider my natural choice of comfort, and by doing so, a new world has opened up.
It's not like I never knew this world existed, it's just that I always felt it would be too difficult and stressful to "visit."
I regret not making this "down and dirty" adjustment earlier, but I'm working on it now.
As I've been practicing my flower photography, I've encountered a slightly awkward problem; the gravitational force, at my age, and with my health problem, the most difficult part hasn't been composting or making images, it's been getting back up!
I've been trying to get around this problem by looking for flower compositions on raised spots, by doing it this way I don't have to fight the gravitational force as much as if I got all the way down.
By using my Canon 300mm prime, I still get that nice "look through the grass" expression I want. Placing the center column on my Benro tripod upside down, I don't have to get my camera and lenses wet or dirty either.
I'm pretty sure this qualifies as adapting to the situation, something I've found necessary if I want to maximize my opportunities for compositions.
